Anduluz is one of my favourite small bars in Perth. I love the soft lighting, options of seating, attentive service.
While waiting for my snack, and deciding what wine I should partner with my @winesandbooks instagram post – I started with a glass of Castelli chardonnay – the grapes are from Pemberton – stonefruit, butterscotch and toasted cashew aromas, silky smooth, creamy palate with some savoury notes accompanying the citrus lift on the finish. Seriously good cool climate chardonnay.
I reluctantly shared 2/4 of the croquettes with my partner – crunchy on the outside, melted gruyere on the inside mixed with pumpkin and mushrooms – fantastic combination!
Also reluctant to leave, but knowing the last train was on the way out – I chose a glass of 2008 Bodegas Ysios Reserva Tempranillo to finish on.
My wine exhibited plums and cherry aromas, with some spicy pepper notes. The palate is juicy, savoury with dusty tannins. Good food wine and well suited to the tapas menu here.
