I spent three weeks in Paris in 2005 and as the Musée Picasso was within walking distance from my hotel – it was first on my itinerary to visit. So when my husband chose this book for me from our local library I was thrilled. The same day we also carried out one of our frequent “Rosé Runs” to Pinelli – one of our favourite Swan Valley wineries.
So it all kind of worked – the three P’s: Picasso – Pinelli – Paris!
The first P – Picasso – I loved this book. Monday for me is my Saturday – as I work Wednesdays through to Sunday’s in my little boutique. ‘Cooking for Picasso’ by Camille Aubray keeps you (or in my case) on the edge of my comfy outdoor chair sitting in my quaint courtyard sipping on a chilled glass of Pinelli Rosé (remember its my Saturday!).
The second P – Paris France – Flitting between 1936 and the 17 year old Ondine and her parents who own a café on the French Riveria to the present day New York where her granddaughter Céline visits her mother and Ondine’s daughter Julia – a fascinating story builds – which heavily involves Pablo Picasso! The food had me at hallo! The descriptions of the food, wine and life in the 1930’s was fascinating.
The third P – Pinelli Wines was established in the Swan Valley in 1980 by Domenic and Iolanda Pinelli – they shared their knowledge and joy of winemaking and grape growing with their family – and today, their sons Robert and Daniel are ensuring that their parents’ focus and commitment to their customers and the pursuit of quality continues on in the Swan Valley family winery.
Breanna Rosé is named after winemaker Daniel Pinelli’s daughter – vibrant and full of life! The wine also has lovely floral notes and strawberry flavours. Delicious Summer (Autumn, Winter, Spring) Rosé.
