We were delighted to receive an invitation to the Royal Agricultural Society of WA (RASWA) 2017 Perth Royal Food Awards Launch.
I grew up in the Mallee in Victoria and Show Day was just the highlight of the year’s calendar of events! So when I see or hear the word Show Day – I’m there. And the RASWA is a show not to be missed. We visited last year – and have marked the date in the calendar this year – can’t wait.
Last night, along with other passionate food and wine bloggers, we attended an evening of food and wine. We were greeted at the door with a glass of Swings and Roundabouts sparkling Pinot Chardonnay – lovely pale yellow in color, persistent bead, refreshing lemon aromas – delicate green apple and delicious pear on the palate- I may have stalked or at the very least eyeballed Jodi of RASWA to make sure she didn’t miss me when I needed a refill – lovely drop.
Natalie of RASWA gave us a “taste” of what is in store for patrons of this year’s Perth Royal Show and introduced Vince Garreffa who is going to be partnering with RASWA in an exciting new venture involving sausages!
We were delighted to see a few of our favourite wineries featured; Mandoon, Heydon Estate and Swings & Roundabouts – plus Feral Brewery who are based in one of our playgrounds – the Swan Valley.
The Perth Royal Food Awards are a fabulous example of the quality that WA has to showcase. The other fabulous experience of being part of the food and wine scene in Perth, is meeting and catching up with other like minded people – lovely to catch up with @perthwinegirl – Mary and her husband, and also the larger than life characters of this wonderful industry – great to meet you Vince Garreffa.
The Claremont show grounds is a beautiful, historical and authentic venue for WA agriculture, farmers and producers of WA food, wine and beverages to partner with RASWA – which in turn makes for a very enjoyable experience for regular and new visitors to the IGA Perth Royal Show.
